Lee Bermejo is a professional illustrator and comic book artist. He has done work for Marvel and DC Comics, Men's Health, Max Mara, Top Cow productions, Wizard Entertainment, and a crappy film called Ultraviolet (hey, whaddayagonnado). Talking about himself in the third person makes him feel more important than he really is. Anyway, enough about the blogger, let's talk art!

The Dark Side...
Amy Winehouse. The first illustration for a monthly column in XL written by Carlo Lucarelli, a fantastic music and pop culture magazine here in Italy.
Beautifully drawn! It reminds me of those experimental animated shorts where the characters and backgrounds are cutouts from magazines. Great choice in colors, too. That shade of turquoise makes Amy stand out.
The typical victorian chiar, and the choice of having a grey background, bringing out the character, is too marvelous! Ravens are a great idea to stand the idea of a dark personality like that of Amy Winehouse!

ReplyDeleteThe shadow of the man wearing a hat express better than words the "I don't care" style of Amy ... Amazing
